SC Extension

An extension of an existing family home, designed to meet the evolving needs of the household. A new independent volume is created while respecting the original architecture. The existing structure, built with exposed brick, is balanced by a lighter, more transparent addition: a glass box that opens to the exterior.

The new upper floor is set back from the original volume, allowing for the creation of a terrace that wraps around the entire level. This design decision manages solar exposure while maintaining an intimate connection with the surroundings. The extension is not merely a physical addition, but a response to the need for a space that offers independence without losing its bond with the rest of the home.

At the heart of the house, a central core acts as the circulation spine, integrating an elevator and a bathroom, while keeping the perimeter of the floor open. This layout enables fluid movement, encourages accessibility, and creates a serene and private living environment.
