Proposal for transformation of Educational Centers

The study analyzes how to improve existing schools in Catalonia through a proposal focused on naturalization, flexibility, and spatial diversity. The main idea is to transform traditional classrooms into open, adaptable, and connected spaces capable of responding to different learning styles according to Bloom's Taxonomy.

The proposal envisions naturalized interiors thanks to the control of natural light, temperature, and air quality, as well as the incorporation of interior courtyards and green roofs that improve comfort and keep students in contact with nature.

The space is conceived as a large, continuous environment, without corridors, where circulation is free and technology is integrated through retractable panels, interactive surfaces, and home automation systems. Acoustics are controlled with specific materials to ensure well-being in a completely open space.

The layout is modular and reconfigurable, with mobile and modular furniture, allowing for group work areas, individual study, creative areas, and private spaces for students with specific needs (autism, ADHD, dyslexia, etc.). Each level incorporates an agora, a small "theater" for presentations, and a variety of spaces that foster collaboration, experimentation, and independent learning.

The project maximizes natural light, cross-ventilation, and the elimination of dark areas. It also considers sensory stimuli (smell, color, light) as tools to enhance concentration and creativity.

Overall, the proposal envisions more open, flexible, and healthy schools, capable of functioning as community spaces outside of school hours, and prepared for future energy efficiency upgrades to the building envelope and solar shading systems.
